Welcome to Child’s Eye Media, a multi award-winning producer of documentaries and other educational resources for young children. In our films, we explore the worlds of work, faith, healthy living, personal safety and consideration for others.
The aim of Child’s Eye Media, as the name suggests, is to reflect a child’s eye view of the world. Through our films, young viewers get a window on the world, and go on a journey of discovery as they follow the stories of the children who appear in each film.
In our two Festivals DVDs, we see how children from different faiths celebrate one of their key festivals. We show them with their families at home, at their place of worship and sharing the experience with other members of their community. As well as highlighting the religious significance of the festivals, we also show how they are joyous family celebrations which often involve a lot of jolly good food. Our Festivals series has won several national awards and we are proud of the role they play in increasing inter-faith awareness and tolerance.
In our Keeping Healthy, Staying Safe DVDs we show how it’s possible to have a great time whilst also staying safe.
Activities such as a bonfire party, a day at the seaside, crossing the road, even a trip to the supermarket can all have their dangers. In our films we see how children and their families can take some simple steps to stay safe.
People Who Help Us volumes 1 and 2, feature children exploring the world of work and particularly that of key figures in the community – doctors, nurses, vets, postal workers, refuse recyclers etc. Where possible the films highlight the importance of reading and writing at work. For example, we see doctors writing prescriptions (sometimes legibly!), postal workers reading addresses and police officers taking notes. In our film with a police helicopter pilot (People Who Help Us I), we see the officer writing on a specially-adapted pair of trousers.
To help children to join-in the world of work we’ve produced a series of simple role play outfits, echoing the uniforms worn by firefighters, vets, police officers in the films. By taking it in turns to dress up in these roles, the children re-enact all the key learning points made in the films as they play. We have even produced a special pair of write-on trousers like the ones used by the police helicopter pilot. The waistcoats can be bought separately or altogether.
All the Keeping Health Staying Safe and People Who Helps us films are available individually or in compilations.. For Home Learning, we recommend the individual titles at £6.99 plus VAT. Nurseries and schools tend to buy the compilation DVDs Plus as they include a second disc containing extensive background information and teaching suggestions all recently updated in line with the revised EYFS framework, and KS1.
